Mike Helmy

Mike comes from the vibrant city of Nottingham, but studied at the Goldsmith College in London.

He currently lives and works from here in Oakham, where he works on paintings inspired by the travels he takes every year to Portugal and other destinations over the globe.

Mike's main interest is currently in composition, his paintings are built up using a series of mathamatical grids and curves to give a sense of perspective and to develop mike's individual approach to watercolour painting.

Will Illsley

Will studied his degree at Leicester Polytechic where he specialised in furniture design. He then went on to teach Ceramic studies at the Uppingham School for six years.

In 1987 Will moved to Stamford with his wife and opened the Torkington Gallery, which provided an excellent outlet for will's work.

When the Torkington closed in 1997 Will took the opportunity to focus on producing craft pottery and to develop his love of sculpture and form. Working in a range of materials will is cuurently dividing his time effortlessley between the two.

Bella Pieroni

Bella Pieroni studied Fine Art at Southport and Liverpool Colleges of Art. Focusing on painting and lithography, Bella's studies led to her obtaining a National Diploma in Design and an Art Teaching Degree. Bella then spent three years teaching art to 'A' Level in a school near Bristol, after which time she moved to London and worked for the next ten years in design.

Today Pieroni is an influential, contemporary fine artist focusing her attention on the dynamism of the human form. Her drawings are worked mainly in naturally occurring media and with natural instruments, occasionally adding paint. This way of working is very much in the moment and captures the essence of model, movement and music with the intention to allow the viewer as much input as possible so that the work becomes theirs.

Ann Goold

Anne Goold lived and worked in the Var, in the south of France, for twenty years where she worked with several French painters and exhibited there.

Working and living in the south of France, was the greatest influence on her use of colour. Since her return to England nine years ago she has settled here in Rutland, painting locally and returning to France frequently.

Recent exhibitions include: the Heifer Gallery, Islington, London; The Mayfair Arts Festival; the Covent Garden Festival at Grosvenor House Hotel; Gildenburgh Gallery, Cambridge; Lec Trois Dauphins at Ste Maxime; Plan de la Tour, Saint Tropez.

Lovers by Stephen Wigmore
Stephen Wigmore

Oakham based painter Stephen Wigmore was prompted by the birth of his first son Jimi to pursue a career as an artist, which he has done passionately since 2007.

Inspired by Surrealist, Cubist and traditional landscape artists, his colourful works capture a sense of playful humour and place in his own unique style.
